The Missionary Dinner

The Missionary Dinner for Elder Bradley Keith Sherwood and Elder Andrew Davis Romney

Harmony Park Ward, Mesa Kimball Stake
Since Stephanie Romney already journaled this, we'll use some of her words: "Our ward has a long standing tradition of holding a dinner to honor boys who are leaving on missions. Families, young men leaders, ward leaders and some of the younger boys are invited. The guests of honor at tonight's dinner were Drew and Brad. The bishop grilled skirt steak - Texas fajitas {delicious} - accompanied by chips/salsa, cheesy potatoes, a lovely salad, corn and fried ice cream with strawberries."
The Gibbons were the only ones who couldn't attend due to an Easter party on the other side of the family. We got a babysitter for all the grandkids and joined Brad & Drew at Bishop Chiles' house.

A tradition in the ward involves all the leaders lining up, displaying the neckties they are wearing, and the soon-to-be missionaries get to choose any tie they would like to have. Drew chose the Bishop's and Brad chose Brother Shepherd's. {It's an honor, apparently, to give up your tie.}

Brad & Drew both bore their testimonies, which were sweet & heartfelt. Bradley spoke a lot about how excited he was to just get out there & get started, serving the people of Brazil and serving the Lord. He's been looking forward to this time in his life for about, well, 19 years! We can't believe these boys are all grown up and leaving the country to share their beliefs with others. We couldn't be more proud!
