Brazil MTC- Email 5/14/2008
(by the way- it's spelled Brasil there, and the MTC is called the ctm)
everyone,
thanks for everyone´s letters and emails. sorry i never write back but i have some extra time today so i will be able to send out a few extra emails so hopefully i can get to everyone i want to.
things are going pretty good here in brasil but they are not getting easier thats for sure. class 12 hours a day tests my patience and learning a foreign language too. i hate to say it but i am not enjoying the food here anymore. it was good for the first few days but i dont know just the past few weeks i havent ever been looking forward to breakfast lunch or dinner. and i have been having withdrawls from normal music. also dr pepper, cell phone, and definitely american food. but i am not letting this stuff distract me. the only thing keeping me sane right now are the friends i have made here. my district has all become really close, and i have made some life long friends here. especially my comp elder lohman who comes to visit his sister in arizona every now and then, and another guy in our room, elder teyechea, who actually lives near newport so that will just give me an excuse to go there more often when i get home. me and those 2 guys have become especially good friends and we have a really good time and i am glad for that blessing.
we got to go to the sao paulo temple today and it was really cool. campinas is still my favorite though. p-days are glorious and i look forward to them very much. i am glad i am over half way here i am excited to get in the field.
i am excited for elder bednar to come this next week, and we got a surprise visit yesterday- sister beck, the relief society president of the church, and sister linford, the 1st counselor in the primary presidency of the church, came and visited us. and they spoke to all of us and gave really good talks. the thing i like about the small population of elders at the brasil ctm is that when speakers speak they basically speak to us in a classroom. as opposed to provo which was basically a stadium. its an up close experiece which is why i am so excited for elder bednar to come.
how is the office? are jim and pam still together? its bugging me i am missing it and dont even get me started on smallville. i hope all of you are taking advantage of television and enjoying these shows for me. i cant believe golden is engaged that is crazy and awesome. tell him and joslyn congratulations for me, and that me and troy called it from day 1 haha. i want someone to send me an invitation when they make them. thanks to mom for the pictures, i put the wallet size one of our family in my wallet and i love the one of the kids in the pool and the one of mom and dad and me. my favorite is the one of ellie and roxy. very very beautiful. and i´m glad the kids could get their letters from me this week.
be happy enjoy the gospel i love you all.
