meus queridos,
i am glad to report that our baptism with jultercléber, (cléber for short) went well, we finished teaching him this week and the baptism was yesterday and thankfully he has a great family strong in the church to live with (picture). this week, if all goes well, we will be baptizing yet another 14 year old boy named késio. lots of young teenage boys to work with here cuz i have found the genius process to work with them:
1. stop and play soccer with them in the street for a couple minutes and win their heart over.
2. make great friends with them, teach them the lessons, and let the spirit confirm to their hearts the message is true.
3. commit them to baptism, and after baptized, let them learn and grow in the church and build their testimonies of the gospel.
4. after 5 or 6 years down the road, send them on missions.
---its a beautiful and quite simple process, it blesses their lives and everyone makes new friends.
elder kittler is still elder kittler, i would still like to work harder and keep the house cleaner, but...... BUT...... i have experienced something remarkable happen with him, which i believe can be acreddited to the power of prayer and the principle of patience. as i have been really trying to apply these to things to my companionship with him, i have worked really hard to help him out, and above all just be a good friend to him (which can be very difficult when the person hates you) but as of lately, things have really started to change. he told me the other night that in the entire year and a half of his mission, i am the first companion that he has gone over a full week without fighting with. he has stopped talking bad about me to my face or others, and it honestly appears that he really thinks of me as a friend now, and is starting to respect me a lot as a person, and all americans in general. however, we have interviews with the president this thursday and word on the street is that pres fernandes is gonna lay a smackdown on him. so either way, it looks like there might be a light at the end of this tunnel after all.
as for other progressing investigators, we are still trying hard for the dad of ellenilton, a member, but it looks like it might delay a while with him but there is hope. unfortunately we had to officially cut Cíntia out, we went to speak with her and her dad and it appears her dad has really gotten inside her head about things which is sad. we have a few others as well but i am most excited for Rafael and Ryuka, a 17 and 19 year old brother and sister that appear elect for sure. i will explain their situation next week.
we spoke in church again and i was told to speak for 10 minutes, but i was left with over half an hour but i still managed to fill up almost all the time so it was good. oh yeah, whoever sent me that survey thing with all the questions like my favorite movie, candy, etc. i was doing it and it accidentally got deleted. so i dont know who sent it but someone send me another one cuz that was fun.
i am heading out right now but everyone remember the 2009 sherwood family motto from elder wirthlin that i am striving to live by: ´´come what may, and love it´´.... that is to say, ´´aconteça o que acontecer, desfrute´´
