Elder Cook visits Brasil

so things have been pretty good, i am really liking this area. i am still here in mossoró, and just instead of costa e silva i am in urick graff. its pretty much just one huge area split in 2. living with 4 is a lot of fun (picture). being a father is not easy, but my son, elder osborne, is a really cool humble guy. he is from utah and doesnt speak or understand a single word haha poor kid, he is so scared to talk to people on the streets or help with teaching which are the things we do all day every day so it is kind of difficult having to do everything on my own. but it is a great experience being able to teach him and hopefully help him a lot. but something really cool and kinda crazy... he dreamed about me before he came out! while he was in the CTM, he had a dream that he was in an area that started with an M and he was with a certain missionary, so during the CTM he told everyone that he already knew what his companion was gonna look like and his area started with an M. so now he´s here with me, in MOSSORÓ. he was going crazy when he told me about it haha i thought it was pretty cool.
the happenings here in these parts of brazil: we took our semi-annual parasite medication (week-long process, nastiest stuff ever) and elder cook from the 12 apostles came here to our mish (picture) but mossoró missed out as always! but i cant complain, i got to meet elder bednar in the CTM and we will probably have at least one more come our way in the next year. speaking of here, it started raining yesterday and didnt stop for hours and hours really hard. after our lunch appointment, we went to leave and we were basically trapped- cuz surrounding us are a few rivers and they were all flooded over. so we hiked for a while in the rain and mud to try and find a way out until eventually we just tried to cross where the mud looked solid enough, but my foot sank down into the mud almost knee-deep, then the other foot too, then after being stuck i tried to pull my feet out but only the feet came, not the shoes. so i dug them out and had to just trod in the thick mud almost up to my knees until the other side of the river, it felt like i was sinking in muddy quick-sand haha so i was a mess yesterday. but ironically, even having TOO much water outside, our water ran out inside the house so we currently dont have running water but hopefully we can get it fixed in the next couple days.
so i saved the best news for last... not only do we have several people we have been teaching lined up for baptism this week and the following, but remember that family i was talking about that we found? we marked their wedding and baptism for this week! (i think elder osborne was kinda bummed that he got here and right off the bat we have to cough up 150 reais for a wedding haha) but it is so worth it, they are the coolest people i have ever known. their names are Fábio and Samara, they are a young couple in their mid 20´s and dont have kids yet, but are planning to soon. they have been unofficially married for a few years now so this friday we have everything planned to marry them civilly then baptism saturday. i love them so much, they feel like best friends after only about 3 weeks of knowing them, cuz we are over there every night. they have been to church 3 times and we have already taught them all the lessons and showed every movie the church has ever made ha so now its just follow ups every night from reading the scriptures and just hanging out really its a lot of fun. fábio is a really funny guy that talks really fast and samara is way cool and she´s gonna teach me how to cook some brazilian good stuff this week. so it will be a packed week with that stuff, probably a couple other baptisms and a lot of lessons with a lot of new people we found, along with mission conference on wednesday cuz it got cancelled last week. so there you have it. i should have some good pictures for next week!

A new dad, a BFF, a wedding and baptisms. No wonder he looks sooooo happy. He is such a great missionary.

I was looking for him, too... but then I re-read his letter that said the Mossoro missionaries missed out. Maybe he got those pictures from his mission pres, or another elder??
