8th Companion: Elder Amarante
I got a license plate made with my name on it 
me trying to get a pic with the banana trees out backmy dearest loved ones,
transfers are next week and i pray i get taken the heck out of this area but i am almost sure i will stay and amarante will go. everyone here is a big jerk to us but hey, i won't complain if i have to stay. we are actually getting a lot of new people lately but the problem is they are long-term investigators cuz most of them are families (couples) so we have to continue teaching them until we can marry them, then dunk them in the water. so maybe i will have more success next transfer...
we taught an older guy this week named Luiz and he promised us he´d go to church with us so on sunday morning. when we got there to pick him up we started the walk to church and it started pouring rain and blowing wind really strong. i felt really bad cuz my comp´s umbrella broke and i was trying to hold mine up to cover us both (me and Luiz) but the wind was so strong that by the time we got to church the rain hadn't stopped and all 3 of us were soaked. ha ha i felt bad for Luiz sitting through church dripping wet the whole time but he still said he thought the church services were "beautiful" so this week we are gonna help him stop smoking.
in one of the baptism interviews i did this past week the girl confessed some pretty heavy stuff to me... and although i have had a lot of people tell me different stuff in interviews before, let's just say i not only could not pass this girl, but she wont be getting baptized for a looooooooong time. its not a very fun job!
one of the people we are teaching that i am sure will be baptized sooner or later is a woman named Shildrénia. she is like 24 and we haven't met her husband yet but every time we teach her the spirit is really strong. it was crazy... a few nights ago we were teaching her a lesson and she had a ton of doubts and questions and stuff and it was quite amazing the way the spirit was working through me-- he was literally talking through me, like actually i was opening my mouth and the words were just coming out while i almost didn't have control over it. it was so cool and after we left i was telling my companion about it and how i didn't even remember half the things i said. i love being an instrument in the Lord's hands and on rare occasions like that have little miracles happen through me- but not at all for my own benefit, only to be able to bless the lives of others. this lady i probably won't even be able to baptize cuz it will take a while but a lot of the times all our job is for the time being is to prepare people. that's the way it is.
that's it for now, and p.s. we found a baby turantula in our house and i have been losing sleep wondering where the mom and other babies are.

Wow, he is getting great training for his future Bishop years. What a great investigator Luiz is to go to church in the rain. Brad is helping to make many changes in the area and his patience will pay off.
how they will go about helping luiz stop smoking? i think about stuff like that and wonder if these boys had any idea what they were signing up for. and then i realize they are my heroes!
{especially when they encounter baby tarantulas!}
