happy p-day from natal, rio grande do norte, brasil
we have had a super busy week with some great success to end it off. yesterday was the day that we have been planning for the baptism of our family (Arnaldo-dad, Jarlúcia-mom, Felipe-son and other little boy) so to remind a little bit, Arnaldo is a really intelligent and religious person, so it has taken us a long time to teach him- every time we show up there he has a new list of questions and "contradictions" about the book of mormon and stuff. so we have come a really long way with him to help really gain a testimony, and he is actually very impressed with the church and everything we have taught him... i have no doubt in my mind he is a future leader in the church. which, would make sense why everything that could have gone wrong yesterday did.
---first of all, he NEVER works on sunday, and this time they happened to call him in. so we waited a long time for him, then, the WATER in the church randomly RAN OUT- so at the last minute we couldn't fill up the font. yeah, it was annoying. so we had to call around to other missionaries to try and go to their chapel to do the baptism. so we waited and waited and we had to cancel our lunch waiting in the chapel and working everything out- so there was 6 missionaries going hungry from not eating all day haha (us 2, the district leader who did the interview and his comp, and the 2 in the other area that had to wait at their chapel)
---and when they finally arrived, they didn't have FELIPE in the car with them, who was supposed to be interviewed/baptized too. so while Arnaldo was being interviewed, Jarlúcia left in their car to pick him up, and what happened on the way back?? the car BROKE DOWN. yeah, when they fixed it all and got to the church, felipe was interviewed , but what happened? Jarlúcia filled us in that she WOULDN'T BE BAPTIZED that day. (she drank coffee) so we re-scheduled it for next week, and all jumped in the car to travel to the other area, but then we GOT LOST trying to find the chapel cuz none of us had ever been there. so to make an even longer story short, they were baptized, it was great, and i absolutely love this family and you can tell from the picture how special they are! and that's exactly why satan wanted sooo bad for things not to work out yesterday....
things are looking good for the wedding of Washington and Estella, i never knew it was this stressful to plan a wedding since we have to arrange everything- cake, food, etc. with everything going as planned it could be as early as this weekend, but most likely next week (after the transfer). speaking of that i talked to pres fernandes and i will probably stay so pode ficar tranquilo. we have even more families in our group and the bishop is super happy with the way the work is going here.
in international news, thanksgiving is coming up -no, brazil doesn't celebrate, but that won't stop me- and american food is on my mind frequently. i have actually finally decided where will be the first place i eat when i get home, and it will be FUDDRUCKERS. i am really excited.
happy birthday this week to mom, shalae, and the late majerle dog...

good thing the fresh prince of fuddruckers is determined! man . . . with all that opposition, i'm afraid i would have thrown my hands up and said, "no baptism for you!"
but then - that's not how missionaries roll. thank heaven.

Satan is no match for Elder Sherwood. I'm sure his bishop has never seen a harder working missionary. (Happy Birthday Vicki, I love you)
